Now, it’s time to answer the interesting questions The Wandering Foxy asked me:
1. Tell me a favorite thing you always take with you when you travel and why!
There are few things I always take with me on my travels. First at all is a small turtle plush, that I bought visiting Genoa’s aquarium, it is my lucky mascot for safe trips! I always travel with my laptop because I can keep up to date my info and blog anywhere I am. But the most important thing is of course my PASSPORT, I never travel without and I keep it always in a safe place... lose the passport can ruin my trip for sure.
2. Do you prefer to take pictures of yourself, of local people or landscapes and why?
I generally take more pictures of landscapes because I am a nature lover but also I make photos of local people to keep memory of different traditions, less of myself because I don’t like my face much on selfies.
3. Share with me a touching memory of your trips!
I tell you of when Carlo and I met each other, I was at the end of my roadtrip and I stopped in a hostel in Broome Western Australia.
Broome is a coastlal, pearling and tourist town in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.
The first day I arrived here I met Carlo, he was living and travelling with a friend in 'Big Mama', a removal truck DIY furnished. It was a stroke of lightning in my heart and we started a relationship in this situation even if my visa was about to expire in 2 months.
At the hostel I also met in short time really wonderful people and travelers like us from everywhere, we used to cook and sharing the nights all together, who was cooking, who singing or playing a guitar or playing pool. I really like to recall that time because it was the best time for myself growth, with positive vibes and it taught me that sharing your time with people you like is the key of happiness.
4. Do you prefer luxury trips or not and why?
I am not a fan of luxury trips, a bit because I don’t have enough money to permit it but also because I am that kind of traveler that like going wild and the adventure and spend less I can for accommodation. I am a backpacker and I generally go in hostels, guesthouses or homestays.
5. What is your favorite means of transport and why?
I don’t have a favorite transport, I generally try to go with public transports and book ferries or trains when necessary. I like travelling by plane, even if it’s always the second class and not the best of comfort. A terrible transport for me was in Thailand when I had to catch a night ferry to move into an island and I had to sleep in a mattress with other 50 people all in the same room.
6. Are you affected by stereotypes of each country and why?
I don’t have many stereotypes, I always try to get use to the situation and the people around. I don’t like much hostels because of the dorms, I get annoyed of people that don’t respect the others, partying and talking loud in the night. I also check for hygiene and quiet places when I look for a new accommodation. Beside of that I love living with other people and share good time and memories, as soon as they respect each other.
7. Which continent have you visited most?
I would say Oceania, as I lived in Australia for 4 years. I did all the coast on the road in the first 2 years, stopping in many places and worked here and there. Australia is such a huge country and I feel really proud to have visited both east and west coast, the landscape is really different in both sides and I met so many travelers around.
After that I lived 2 years in Melbourne which has been named the world’s most liveable city of 2017.
8. Which destination seems impossible to you yet but you’ll never stop trying until you visit it and why?
No destination is impossible to reach, there are actually many places I would like to visit but the one is on my mind is Machu Picchu in Peru, I think it is one of the most mystical places in the world. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 and in 2007 voted one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. I would like one day to walk through the ruins of this ancient inca's site.
9. Do you seek or avoid tasting local dishes and why?
When I travel I always seek tasting local dishes and also try a different tradition because they are more affordable and I prefer to help local businesses by going to eat in local markets. Of course I am Italian and I think there is nothing better that Mediterranean food but I always find some local dishes that I like everywhere I go.
10. Have you ever met Hippies on your way and what was your opinion about them and why?
Yes I met many hippies in Australia and Asia but also in Costa Rica where I have been in my last 6 months. I don’t judge them because of their clothes or way of doing. Everyone is free to do whatever they like always with respect of the others. I am a kind of gypsy too, I like wearing always the same clothes, I don't follow a style, I just wear what I like and sometimes colourful clothes but I don’t consider myself a hippy.
11. How do you feel when you visit Temples of another religion and why?
I am always mindful of a different culture and religion because it is important to respect people with mores and different history from us. For example I wore the Indonesian Sarong when I went visiting the Bali’s temples (Indonesia) and long sleeves shirts in Thailand while exploring their temples.
And here below my questions to my Nominees:
1. What kind of traveler are you? 2. Which place that you have visited is in your mind for its beauty? 3. Share with me one of your best memories/experiences during your trips! 4. Tell me how many countries have you visited and which one you liked the most? 5. What is the most craziest thing have you done in your travels? 6. Which place in your country would you recommend to visit and why? 7. What is in your bucket list? 8. While travelling in a different country, what do you do to help local businesses? 9. What is the most important thing you look for when you start a new trip? 10. Which place would you like to go living if you would have to choose? 11. Where are you planning to go next?
Good luck guys, I hope to read your answers soon!
